Myth: -Tooth replaced need to be artificially replaced

FACT: - A tooth however badly decayed should be tried to be saved. In spite of all efforts if a tooth has to be removed it must be replaced as soon as possible. If this is not done then gradually the teeth adjacent to the gap will start tilting towards this gap leading to food collection, cavities and difficulty in chewing in this region. The opposing tooth also grows down causing similar problems in the opposite arch teeth also. Therefore a lost tooth must be replaced within a maximum of 6 months not only for aesthetic purposes but also to prevent disease conditions in adjacent and opposing teeth and gums.

Myth:-A tooth extraction is very painful.
For severe tooth problems, a tooth extraction will need to be performed. Many studies showed that people get highly stressed when going to the dentist. This is because of the idea that it hurts or it will hurt. But actually, dental procedures these days have dramatically revolutionized. The high technology used in many dental clinics has made dental operations and procedures a painless experience.

Myth:-Tooth extraction affects’s vision/causes blindness

The myth that tooth extraction can affect a person’s vision or even cause blindness is false. Removal or extraction of a tooth can never affect a person’s vision. The nerves supplying to teeth and eyes are different and have no connection with each other, except that they follow a similar path for a while.

And lastly, we’ve all heard of the myth that losing milk teeth to cavity is insignificant. However, dentists insist that any form of cavity has to be treated as soon as possible. It is important to remove the caries even in milk teeth unless it is about to fall. As caries spread faster in milk teeth, you don’t want it to affect the permanent tooth bud underlying the milk tooth. If kids lose their milk teeth prematurely, the permanent tooth may not erupt in the right position, requiring orthodontics later on.
